SAIVA is a Central Texas non profit organization that promotes a sense of wellbeing, belonging and fulfillment for older adults of South Asian heritage through community engagement, partnership building and civic involvement.
Donation for the Diwali in a Box fundraiser will be utilized in helping SAIVA with its activities that helps the older adults combat social isolation, lead a dignified life with independence and choice.
SAIVA events include:
Arts and Crafts
- Making of therapy dolls, baby blankets, hats and mittens for the Dell children's hospital
- Blankets and Christmas cards for the military
- Face masks in 2020
- Art classes done with Keya through zoom
Cooking and Food projects
- Food for Thought- a community activity in the preparation of food for UT students just around exam time
- Cooking with Nani - a cooking demonstration on zoom by seniors and other members of the community
Health and Wellness to promote physical and emotional wellbeing
- Several yoga classes by trained instructors
- Meditation sessions
- Talks by invited guests
Singing programs
- Weekly singing lessons by a trained singer
- Antakshri events for fundraising

- Weekly technology classes on zoom
